Such an emotional and heartfelt story, I adored and appreciated how torn these two characters were and was just rooting for them to get their happy ending.

Sexy Scottish professor Brigs McGregor is literally drowning in a sea of guilt, after the death of his wife and young son in a tragic car accident, he is left feeling remorse that he was in love with another woman at the moment of their demise.

American intern Natasha Trudeau always knew their love was doomed, but just when she saw the light at the end of the tunnel, everything came crashing down and she plummeted into despair that took a long time for her to claw out from.

Fate brings them back together once again, when Brigs accepts a teaching position at Kings College, London, the very university that Natasha has returned to after her breakdown.

Love isn't always black and white and Brigs and Natasha's journey is a tough one, but their bond is so genuine and true that you only want the best for these characters and that is the sign of a good writer, when you really feel what they are going through and praying for everything to work out for the good.

Natasha was the star of this book for me, she was so relate-able and endearing, and I felt so much empathy for her situation and I thought she was very classy with the way she handled herself and Brig's feelings.

Brigs was gorgeous inside and out, his turmoil was so real and I loved how he was so alpha without being overtly so, he was so perfect for this book.

There were some beautiful quotes, I loved the writing and am certain that I will remember this book for a long time.

The Lie is a standalone second chance romance told in dual POV, past and present.

LOVED Professor Blue Eyes!

Anyone who follows my reviews knows Karina Halle is one of my favorite authors; I have read all her books and will read anything she writes. However, this book made me more hesitant than any of her previous books. After reading the synopsis and knowing some of backstory from reading The Play, I had an eerie feeling the book would focus on a trope I usually shy away from reading. Due to my immense love of this author, I put aside my apprehension and dove into Brigs and Natasha’s world. What I found was a moving and beautiful story about forgiveness and a second chance at love.

“You are my salvation….You save me from the world. You save me from myself.”

The Prologue is haunting and drew me in immediately to Brig’s heartbreak. While he moves forward, it is evident Brigs is a shell of his former self. That is until until four years later when he once again sees Natasha, and the world stands still for both. I literally felt the tension these two share with one other; it is all consuming. There is so much pain and guilt but also intense love, and the tension is off the charts.

Second chance romances are a delicate balance of past and present. I prefer those books that focus on the here and now rather than the past. Halle does a tremendous effort with flashbacks throughout the story. It is never overwhelming or past driven. As painful as it was, it is important to learn about the events leading to their breakup. However, its a perfect balance of the two stories.

"We are forever surrounded by ashes. But we are fire. And fire rises."

I appreciate that both Brigs and Natasha are flawed. Both make mistakes in their relationship. However, it makes them human. It is easy to understand how quickly events can spiral out of control. Often times, people make mistakes, but it doesn’t make them an evil person. While the circumstances are questionable, their love never is. I admire Halle for undertaking this story line and allowing readers to feel it firsthand. I will be less likely to shy away from forbidden stories in the future.

I highly recommend this book to any second chance romance fan. You’ll find yourself looking for Professor Blue Eyes in your next college class, or enrolling in one just to find him.

Not A Beautiful Love Story

I really enjoy Karina Halle books. But not this one. I should have read the sample before purchasing the book. I don't enjoy stories when there is a cheating spouse....nor do I enjoy reading about a woman who who wants a married man. Even with that said, there wasn't enough substance to the story. I got bored with and almost didn't finish. This is my least favorite in this series

In an excellent tribute to one of baseball's good guys, several members of the Society for American baseball Research (SABR) have collaborated to take fans back more than 60 years to a simpler time and a simpler game. Although Sandock's time in the major leagues was relatively brief, he made lifetime friends. He, his family, his friends, and the book's authors bring alive those years with equal doses of caring, love, and diligent research.

This book will inspire you!!

Matt Dulin (Goody GetRight) has written a terrific and poetic book of adventure, insights on life and heartfelt poetry. It is the kind of book that you can't put down. As I was reading the book, I began to get inspired to live my life to the fullest, take risks and explore and experience all that life has to offer. It gave me a wanderlust feeling to hit the road and leave my cares and structured life behind. This book is a treasure! I highly recommend it!

An excellent book it is ! It introduces me with the most important thing of the human being - Memory, Brain and Brain's activity to memorize something. This book provides an informative explanations about the differences between short and long term memory, food habits to improve memorizing power, efficacy of meditation to improve mental power in order to boost my memory up as well as increase my intelligence. Moreover, it shares me a concept of using Mnemonic devices like acronyms and acrostics that can increase my memory capacity dramatically. Really, a helpful book. I recommend it.

I read this book and I am amazed that there are many ways to improve our memory some people between us have long term and shot term memory. But this is a good thing that now a days you have a cure for this and improve your personality by making improve your memory. Author explained many things related to memory with examples. I did some exercises from this book and find a great change in my self. I recommended this book. I will definitely read more books like this. Author did a great job. Highly recommended

This book can really help you improve a very important skill - control of your brain. It teaches what memory is and what is the difference between long-term and short-term memory. It also gives hints on enhancing your memory, through many aspects (letting go of singularity, eating right food, meditation, etc.). It shares some memory tricks and mnemonic devices you can use like acronyms, acrostics, buzzwords, tunes, rhymes… All in all, this is very helpful and educative book.

Got uke? If so, you need this book

I confess to being guilty of owning all of Jim's books. If I give one away, I quickly replace it. This one won't fit in your ukulele case (even if it's a baritone), but it is the "one to have". I'm not going to perform an audit to see what is in this book that is not in other books, but there appears to be a ton of new stuff. Missing are chord solo arrangements that you can find sprinkled throughout other books, and the intro/first verse to some songs (that most of us have never heard the intro to). (e.g. Mele Kalikimaka) This book does not include the more difficult type of material that is presented in Jim's master series books. At the back of the book is a nice small collection of holiday and celebration songs, and another section of children's songs. Amazon's price is the lowest that I have seen; so get one quick and consider holiday gift purchases.

I'll be taking mine to Kinko's to see if they can pop a clear plastic front and back cover in the comb binding because this book is going to see some serious use.

DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE VERSION OF THIS BOOK!!!!

I just purchased a Kindle version of The Daily Ukulele as a Christmas gift for my sister. MISTAKE! I'm a fan of the Beloffs and have several of their books, so this absolutely isn't a criticism of them or the contents of the book. The reviews posted on Amazon and the recommendations of fellow ukulele-players persuaded me to get this book for my sis. And the "idea" of being able to tote your uke music on a Kindle was appealing. But my sister, who accepted the gift, has told me that the book is essentially unreadable on the Kindle. As this is a book of sheet music, changing the text size apparently does not work, and anyway, at the least, you really want to be able to see the whole page. According to my sister, apparently the current version displays only two lines of a song at a time. I wish, I wish, I WISH SOMEONE had had the sense NOT to make this available on Kindle -- nice idea in principle maybe, but completely impractical in the execution. I would have bought the paper edition. It would be nice if Amazon would credit back what I paid for this useless version and apply it to buying a paper edition. Why are situations like this always excused by "BUYER BEWARE"? Why is it always the buyer's fault? Thanks for the forum for sounding off.

Addendum: I still don't advise buying the Kindle version, but Amazon has kindly allowed an inhouse credit so that i could buy the paper version to send to ole Sis. Thank you, Amazon.

I'm a ukulele beginner. I got my copy yesterday and I didn't put my uke down for three hours! Lots and lots of fun. With the chord charts included for each song, it's easy for the beginner to use. With 365 songs, I would expect every ukulele player to find plenty to like.

This is a love story on many levels

This is a love story on many levels, love a young couple, love of the Native people, love of the wilds and love of the ideals of the national parks. The book takes the readers from the smoky hills of West Virginia to the sparkling clean vistas of northern Alaska at a time of enormous political, economic and social change. It guides them through the labyrinth of Native land claims, competing philosophies on the ultimate value and use of the enormous virgin wilderness regions of Alaska and the emotionally charged contest for the heart and soul of this wonderful last frontier. Ray and I hope you are able to experience some the joy we found in the perfect wilds of Alaska.

My eating disorder started during my senior year of high school.

WHOA. I KNOW. WAY TO KICK THINGS OFF ON A FUN, LIGHTHEARTED NOTE, HELBIG.

But let’s just go with it for a second. Because this book, this smattering of my thoughts on style and fashion and beauty, has been a really difficult thing for me to wrap my head around. I assumed it’d be easy to brain-barf some HILARIOUS feelings about tank tops and tube socks onto paper, but every time I tried to sit down to do it, I hit a wall. And then another wall. And another. Any countries out there looking to send a message to their neighbors and need help? Turns out I’m really great at putting up walls. HAHAHAHA, depressing sigh.

Once I started investigating why I was having so much trouble writing, I realized that no matter how funny you try to make the concept of beauty, it can still be a personal and sensitive topic for a lot of people, myself included. And I didn’t want to pretend otherwise. And I definitely didn’t want anything in this book to come across as arrogant or preachy because I’ve been negatively affected by the people and the images and the concepts touted by the fashion industries, so the last thing I want to do is trigger any insecurities you might have.

I wanted to take a second at the beginning of this book to give you a quick overview of my history of insecurity before getting into my present-day reflections on style. This is one part selfish and one part hopefully helpful. Selfish, because one of the ways I got out of the darkest period of my eating disorder was by talking about it; and hopefully helpful, because another way I got out of feeling so alone was by reading a butt-ton of books written by women who had also struggled with their body image. You see, YouTube didn’t exist during that time; instead, I bought books hoping to hear someone else’s story of suffering so I might feel less alone . . . BOOKS, YOU GUYS. So, who knows, my hope is that sharing this pretty sad personal time in my life might allow one singular person to feel less alone. And that’s completely worth it.

She can't hide her beautiful

A light-hearted but at times deeply thoughtful reflection on the things we hold dear that define who we are. Grace Helbig has an amazing sense for the ridiculousness of this world, and reading her musings reminds us how insignificant our problems just might be. One can't help but walk away feeling a little less burdened, a little more ready to tackle this ludicrous world after reading this text. Ms. Helbig steadfastly notes that this book is not meant to be taken seriously, but in doing so reveals a much deeper part of her being - a charming comedic therapist who will rake herself across the coals if it means you might take some comfort.

Read this - it goes fast, brings a smile, and forces some personal reflection along the way.
